Qualities of a Security Installation Specialist

There are some common skills that the best choice for security installation professionals have in order to perform their duties. The ability to follow directions was on the list but it was followed by safety and knowing how to work with others. Was there any instruction as to the type of equipment needed? Did the candidate have to be licensed? Was there any indication of what type of equipment is required for the job?

From the resumes that were reviewed, it was apparent that most resumes listed mechanical abilities, hand eye coordination and knowledge of electrical components. It was also apparent that many of the candidates were from large corporations that required someone who can handle large electrical components. There was little indication from the resumes as to whether or not these individuals had worked as part of an actual team or were self-employed contractors.  If you want to know more about these experts, here is some more info.

When interviewing for this position, it was suggested that all of the potential applicants should have some type of background with installation and wiring of security systems. The training requirements would include classroom instruction and hands on training utilizing classroom tools as well as field training with live, in the field personnel. Knowledge of sensors, alarms and the fundamentals of programming and designing controls should be learned. It is important to learn what type of perimeter the security system has in place and if any alarm control panel or sensor is required.

A very important skill to possess is the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with wiring and components. This includes being able to identify potential sources of false alarms as well as the correct way to terminate or reset the circuits within the security control unit. Knowledge of troubleshooting situations where wires or sensors have been replaced and how to make repairs on the wiring is necessary.

Another essential skill required is knowledge of the passive infrared sensors that are placed throughout a building or home. The use of these detectors is to detect heat patterns that are unique to different parts of a building. When there is movement or even an object motion in the area the sensor will pick up on this and trigger the alarm. The detector is designed to sense heat patterns and forms patterns of movement which are picked up by its sensors. When motion is detected, it can alert security personnel that an intruder is in the area.

Verification sensors are often used with alarm systems to verify the presence of a person or pet. A common method is to set up a verification device with a specific distance that it must cover in order to trigger an alarm. Another common verification device is the presence of a magnetic object, which must be near the perimeter of the property. This method can be very effective in protecting an elderly or disabled person who may be unable to run far enough to reach the security perimeter or a person who is sleeping or bathing in a tub of hot water.  Check out this post for more information on this topic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_security.
